Student Transportation Green School Buses Find Home in the San Fernando Valley

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Student Transportation of America, Ltd. (STA) has leased an approximately 2-acre industrial yard in North Hollywood to serve as home for about 71 alternative-fuel school buses, part of the company’s five-year contract it secured with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to provide special transportation services to students living in the San Fernando Valley area beginning in the 2009 – 2010 school year.

Don Archer of NAI Capital represented STA in the approximately $1.8 million 5-year lease of the yard located at 12560 Raymer in North Hollywood. Archer noted that the location serves as the first alternative fuel bus yard in Los Angeles County.

“It is great to be of service to STA and to have been able to help them find the perfect space to fit their needs,” said Archer. “This yard will set the tone for future locations sought to accommodate alternative fuel vehicles in LA County.”

“NAI Capital has done an excellent job finding us a facility in this environmentally sensitive area of Southern California,” said Alan Kirking, regional vice president of operations for STA. “We are committed to seeking new opportunities for ‘greener’ operations in the yellow school bus industry.”
