Consulting firm Gladstein, Neandross & Associates announced that time is running out to take advantage of reduced registration fees for its 2013 Alternative Clean Transportation Expo. Attendees must sign up by Dec. 31 to save up to $300 on the ACT Expo, which moved to Washington, D.C., this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities program.
Scheduled for June 24-27, 2013, the Expo will gather thousands of alternative fuel industry leaders from across North America to showcase the economic, environmental and energy-security benefits of alternative fuel use in transportation. GNA reps said booth space at the ACT Expo 2012 in Long Beach completely sold out and added that space is now selling quickly for the 2013 show.
The conference program will share success stories from clean vehicle deployments, details on funding programs, regulatory and policy updates while also featuring an exhibit hall with the latest advanced vehicle technologies, networking receptions and a ride-and-drive event. Past presentations have included case studies from school districts. The 2013 show will also feature an alternative fuel vehicle caravan to the Capitol, a nod to the DOE’s commitment to encouraging the development and use of clean, alternative fuels.
Last year’s event drew 3,000 registered attendees, 500 fleet managers, 150 sponsors and exhibitors and 125 speakers, according to the Expo website. Thomas Built Buses exhibited its CNG-powered Saf-T-Liner HDX, which features a Cummins-Westport engine and an Allison Transmission. Those companies were among the 100-plus exhibitors promoting the future of clean vehicles powered by natural gas, propane, electric, hydrogen and renewable fuel technologies. Knapheide and Clean Fuels USA, which partnered with Thomas on its new propane school bus, also exhibited.
The Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) and NGVAmerica were on hand to share information on the latest and greatest in propane and natural gas technologies—the two fastest-growing alternative fuels in North America.
“The more diesels we can replace with propane autogas, the better the industry will be,” said Mike Taylor, director of autogas business development for PERC.
Platinum sponsors of ACT Expo 2013 include Thomas Built Buses and Navistar, the parent company of IC Bus, while Silver Sponsors include Cummins Westport, Clean Energy and ROUSH CleanTech, which provides the fuel systems for the Blue Bird Propane-Powered Vision and Micro Bird G5 school buses.
“The connections we made at ACT EXPO resulted in several hundred units of additional sales for our company in California alone,” added Brent Pope of emissions control manufacturer BAF Technologies.
