MCLEAN, Va. — Kajeet, the industry leader for safe, mobile student internet connectivity, today announced that its Kajeet SmartBus solution includes global positioning system (GPS).
Transportation directors and their staff now have the capability to locate school buses, as well as manage device and data usage on any of the four major U.S. wireless networks through the innovative Kajeet Sentinel cloud platform, and ensure bus drivers maintain safe speeds. This latest feature complements the recent announcement of the new SmartBus with Dual Connect configuration that allows school buses to connect to up two networks at once.
The SmartBus tab on Sentinel provides administrators with a list of all school buses connected to a wireless router through Kajeet Education Broadband™, as well as a map with school bus icons depicting each connected bus location. When selecting an individual SmartBus device, the locator drills down to show SmartBus insights, including: date and time of last location, the specific location coordinates, and the latest speed recorded. Satellite-based GPS and speed calculations are captured on the bus router, and then reported to the Sentinel platform every 30 seconds.
“With Kajeet SmartBus GPS, school administrators and transportation directors can know where the school bus is, and also monitor the driver’s speed to ensure a safe trip,” said Kajeet CEO and Founder Daniel Neal. “Today’s school bus is now connected with multiple technologies. The Kajeet SmartBus provides the missing piece to create a truly connected bus with wireless internet access for administrators along with Kajeet Education Broadband access so that students can focus on homework on their journey.”
Over 100 school districts across the U.S. have deployed the Kajeet SmartBus program, extending the classroom and connecting their buses to the latest mobile technology.
Kajeet customers can now connect their school buses to GPS in addition to the current benefits of SmartBus, such as: a total trusted solution, an extension of the classroom to the school bus, access on any of the four major U.S. wireless networks, and personable customer service. The recent addition of Kajeet SmartBus with Dual Connect also allows the school bus to connect to two national 4G LTE networks, expanding coverage as the school bus travels. https://www.kajeet.net/solutions/school-bus-wifi/
