Safe Fleet added to its video portfolio by adding one of the leading backup video camera manufacturers to its product offerings after acquiring the aptly named Rear View Safety company.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Safe Fleet said Rear View Safety will continue to operate out of Brooklyn, New York with Joseph Schechter remaining the company leader as vice president.
Rear View Safety manufacturers school bus back-up cameras, which the company says it has installed thousands since 2007, as well as sensors, dash cameras and DVRs for the student transportation industry.
“This acquisition supports our vision to build the leading global provider of safety solutions for fleet vehicles,” said John Knox, president and CEO of Safe Fleet. “The addition of Rear View Safety expands Safe Fleet’s leadership position in specialty video products for fleet vehicles in North America and (as) one of top suppliers worldwide.”
He added that Rear View Safety products are complimentary to Safe Fleet’s existing line of video solutions.
Safe Fleet formed in September 2013 with the merger of ROM Corporation and SMI Corporation. Shortly thereafter, Safe Fleet added Seon Design to its portfolio that already included Specialty Manufacturing, Transpec and Pretoria. Rear View Safety is the sixth Safe Fleet acquisition since the merger.
