Seon announced it will donated $25,000 from proceeds of video camera sales made between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31 to assist nationwide anti-bullying awareness campaigns. Most of the money will be made available to school districts via a new grant program.
The company said it will distribute $20,000 to school districts in the United States and Canada through the Seon Anti-Bullying Grant. The remaining $5,000 will support the mission of The Bully Project, a national social action campaign aimed at stopping bullying and inspiring people to start their own anti-bullying projects.
“We thank Seon for their generous donation and their efforts to create a world where bullying is no longer acceptable,” says Simeon Powers, director of finance of The Bully Project. “Buses can be one of the most susceptible areas to bullying, and Seon’s efforts have changed them to being a safer place.”
The Seon grant is open to all school bus transportation directors or managers. Applications are due March 31 and must outline a plan for an anti-bullying program and how much money (up to $3,000) is needed to accomplish the goals. Seon said winners will receive “The Bully Project’s Educator’s DVD & Toolkits” for school campuses in their district to use.
“We commend Seon on their charitable donations to selected school districts across North America that apply for Seon anti-bullying education grants,” added Powers. “We look forward to continuing to work with them on finding new solutions to bullying problems.”
