Texas Environmental Organization Accepting Applications for School Bus Retrofit Projects

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality announced that it is accepting grant applications to retrofit eligible diesel-powered school buses with emissions-reduction technology.

A total of up to $2 million is available to reimburse school districts for installing pollution-control retrofits on older diesel school buses. The grant opportunity is open to all public and charter schools across the state that operate one or more diesel-powered school buses.

While a school district may apply for any amount of funding, the TCEQ said it has limited funds and will review applications on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for application is Nov. 30.

More information is available on the Clean School Bus Web page or by calling 512/239-3100.
