DANVILLE, Calif. — TransTraks, the premier software product of the school transportation industry, will sponsor the California Association of School Transportation Officials (CASTO) School Bus Safety Poster Contest for a second year in a row. TransTraks is a Division of Perseus Associates based in California’s San Francisco East Bay area.
Each October, CASTO holds a School Bus Safety Poster Contest to promote the state’s awareness of school bus safety. Local CASTO chapters hold their own contest and chapter winners will be forwarded to the state organization that will determine final state-wide winners.
“We are very excited to play a part in CASTO’s important school bus safety efforts. This project reaches hundreds of school districts throughout the state and highlights the importance of our hundreds of thousands of students being safely transported by the safest mode possible: California’s school buses,” said Greg Marvel, Owner of TransTraks. “We have a corporate philosophy of giving back to our industry and we are pleased to partner with CASTO in this annual safety contest.”
Judging of posters is based on the following criteria:
A. Relationship of the poster to school bus safety practices
B. Originality of the poster and how the idea is expressed in the poster design
C. Artwork and its execution
D. Visual impact of the poster design
Each poster and slogan must harmonize with this year’s theme of “Bully Free Zone!”. Any student from the state may enter a drawing from four different divisions. Division #1 – Grades K-3, Division #2 – Grades 4-6, Division #3 – Grades 7-8, Division #4 – Special Education.
Prizes are awarded to winners from each chapter for first, second and third places. Prizes in the CASTO poster contest include a $150 check to the winners and $100 cash to be spent on a class party. The winning poster of the state contest will be sent on to the National Association of Pupil Transportation (NAPT).
TransTraks will sponsor an all-expenses paid trip for the winning student and their parents to the annual CASTO conference being held in Sacramento this year, where the award will be presented. The original poster will be framed and put on display at the banquet and be presented to the winner by Greg and Donna Marvel, owners of TransTraks.
