CORRECTION: American Cooling Technologies Names Oberdorff President and CEO

Dave Oberdorff was promoted to president and chief executive officer of school bus air conditioning manufacturer American Cooling Technologies, announced company founders James Schreiber and J.R. Lucas. Previously, Oberdorff was the company’s general manager.

Oberdorff joined ACT in 2011 after working at Mobile Climate Control (MCC), where he was director of North American sales. Oberdorff was the director of sales and marketing at Carrier Transicold from October of 1994 through April 2011, when he was hired at MCC.

Editor’s note — A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that ACT acquired MCC. In fact, MCC purchased Carrier Transicold, which brought Oberdorff to MCC. STN regrets this error.

“Coming to ACT turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and it has been exciting and a real pleasure working with the team here to help make ACT the premier Bus Air Conditioning supplier in the country,” said Oberdorff. “It was a little scary leaving Carrier after so many years, but I could not have made a better choice.

Schreiber will continue to serve as vice president at ACT, leading the engineering and technical group that focuses on new product deveopment and on-going engineering support of current products. Lucas will continue as vice president of sales and marketing.

“Dave has been instrumental since coming on board in helping ACT almost triple its revenues,” said Schreiber and Lucas in a joint statement. “This change in Dave’s title simply reflects the way the organization is working on a day to day basis and allows us to all focus our talents on what we do best.”

A member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Oberdorf graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in engineering management and from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in government.
