Pennsylvania School Bus Transportation Company Hosts Hiring Event

Reliance Student Transportation is hosting a two-day hiring and test-driving event for those interested in becoming school bus drivers, reported Fox 43.

According to the news report, the event will be held at Central York High School in Springettsbury Township, York County from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday.

No prior experience as a bus driver is reportedly required to apply, and professional trainers will be available to answer questions.

Senior Vice President Jodie Quibell said via the article that applicants should have at least three years of driving experience in a regular vehicle and a clean driver’s license is recommended. Additionally, there is a state school bus physical exam that they have to pass.

Hours will reportedly vary depending on the driver’s route, although most will be expected to complete about four hours of work on school days. Furthermore, anyone interested in applying must be 21 years of age or older.

Quibell told local news reporters that there is a greater need for school bus drivers as more people within the profession retire.

Prospective drivers will reportedly have the chance to drive a school bus around the high school parking lot and perform basic tasks as if they were on a route. If hired, drivers can expect to work more than 170 school days.
