School Bus Driver Honored

The News & Observer reported that the Johnston County school system has named Shannon Brock as its bus driver of the year. Brock drives a morning bus route for a North Carolina elementary school, where she is also a kindergarten teacher assistant.

Brock began her career in the school system in 1996 and began driving a bus shortly thereafter. She shows dedication to her job, with perfect attendance driving her bus since her first day behind the wheel.

Brock is known among her fellow bus drivers as the “bus cheerleader” for being willing to help whenever and wherever she can; she is the first to ask if she can cover an afternoon bus route.

School administrators, fellow drivers and students alike said they hold a huge amount of respect for Brock.
