Bendix On-Line Brake School Enrollment Tops 40,000

ELYRIA, Ohio — Brake-school.com, the online training portal from Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC., continues to grow as the go-to training resource for professionals from all corners of the trucking industry. Drivers, technicians, distributors, fleet personnel, and owner-operators turn to the three-year-old site for the most current and in-depth technical training available.

The Bendix On-Line Brake School, which delivers 24/7/365 access to topics in demand, now serves more than 40,000 registered users from more than two dozen countries.

“People throughout the industry, across roles and job titles, continue to discover the value of the Bendix On-Line Brake School. We hear from these professionals regularly, offering positive feedback and asking that we keep our content pipeline growing—which reinforces the importance of providing current, in-depth technical training,” said Barbara Gould, Bendix director of corporate communications. “Meeting the industry’s training and information needs is important to all of us at Bendix. Ongoing technical education is more critical than ever today, as commercial vehicle technology is advancing so quickly. That’s why we designed the site to be as inviting and easy to use as possible—people can access for free and on their own terms.”

Bendix opened access to its knowledge database and technical resources in March 2013. Since then, users have accessed brake-school.com more than 2 million times. The company updates content regularly, with nearly 20 new courses developed and added to the curriculum in the past 10 months alone.

Through brake-school.com, students can access Bendix’s comprehensive and interactive Air Brake Training course, along with a curriculum covering the full spectrum of braking and active vehicle safety system product topics. Topics range from overall education on product features and operation to troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance best practices. The portal includes courses on wheel-end maintenance, air dryers, tire pressure monitoring systems, radar alignment for active safety systems, air compressors, and lane departure warning systems. Other content includes segments addressing CSA (Compliance, Safety, Accountability), highway safety, and emissions regulations.

Bendix, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies for commercial vehicles, also develops customized training through its On-Line Brake School, offering specialized programs for organizations spanning all segments of the commercial vehicle industry, including fleets such as Averitt Express and U.S. Xpress, Inc.

The on-line school is open to registrations from companies and individuals. Students logging into the password-protected site can choose from a broad range of training tools, including a dynamic menu of five- to seven-minute video segments. Among the other tools are interactive presentation modules, allowing students to review the information at their own pace and—with the site always available—on their own schedule. Students measure what they’ve learned by completing knowledge checks at the end of each course. Brake-school.com offers a variety of access levels, most of which enable companies to track their registered technicians’ and employees’ participation and progress.

More than 70 courses are offered through the Bendix On-Line Brake School. A full menu of new courses is scheduled for development and release throughout the upcoming months. A key benefit of brake-school.com is that the tool can be readily integrated into customer training systems, enabling Bendix to present complex systems and components in an understandable, complete way.

Bendix has been a trailblazer in industry training programs and technical education for more than 50 years. Its in-person Bendix® Brake Training School is one of the industry’s longest-running training programs. Always in high demand, nearly 300,000 people have successfully completed Bendix’s in-person and computer-driven training during the past decade alone.

At the heart of Bendix’s training and education programs are field-tested sales and service professionals; an ASE-certified field technical support team; and the Bendix Tech Team (at 800-AIR-BRAKE), an expert technical support group providing service advice, brake system troubleshooting, and product training.

By delivering on post-sales support and other areas critical to fleets’ success—including safety, value, and product performance—Bendix helps fleets and drivers lower total cost of vehicle ownership and strengthen return on investment in equipment and technology, increasing safety for everyone on the road.
