Hydrotex partnered with two other companies in February to provide one-day training on the principles of lubrication as well as transmissions and charging systems to five dozen technicians who maintain the nation’s third-largest fleet of school district buses.
Sixty Dallas County Schools bus technicians attended the Saturday, Feb. 2 training. The company has held previous three-day classroom training sessions on lubricity.
The day of education included training on Allison Transmissions by Stewart & Stevenson and training on news battery and charging systems by Alternator Service.
“We are thrilled about the training provided to the technicians,” said Gary Sutton, fleet manager for Dallas County Schools. “Offering continuing education programs has always been a priority. It is one thing to simply pour oil in a bus and another to know the correct lubrication management practices and how to read an oil analysis.”
Sutton added that the training builds confidence, reliability and a sense of community at the 12 bus service centers operated by Dallas County Schools. The training also reinforced technician testing performed through Texas Association of Pupil Transportation (TAPT) courses.
“The education they received is invaluable,” Sutton added.
Amzad Hosein, Dallas County’s shop supervisor said he looks forward to future training sessions.
“Safety is our number one goal. In order to ensure safety, we need the proper knowledge and equipment,” he said.
Hydrotex’s focused on teaching bus technicians about lubrication management practices to increase knowledge about sustainable solutions, said Dwight Gleaves, vice president of pupil transport sales at Hydrotex.
“I believe the correct training, tools and products will save money and extend the equipment life for these maintenance programs,” Gleaves added.
