A member of the TSD Conference Tenured Faculty, Alexandra Robinson returns in March to share her insights from her 25-plus years of experience working with students with disabilities as a counselor and as a teacher of students with severe Autism.
Robinson’s experience speaks for itself. After being a special education teacher and behavioral specialist, she served as the director of transportation at San Diego (Calif.) Unified before accepting the executive director of transportation position in 2012 at the New York City Department of Education. She has presented to transportation professionals and special educators both locally and internationally in the areas of mobility/securement, civil rights, and safe transportation of students with medical and special needs.
For the conference this year, Robinson will present “Making the Case for Specialized Transportation” on Sunday, March 13. She will discuss how to get your “ducks in a row” when negotiating transportation plans that involve alternative forms of transportation related to a student’s fragility, severe behaviors or residential placements. Then, on Monday, March 14, she will present “Managing Behaviors of Students With Special Needs: Transportation Challenges (NAPT PDS 805)”, where she will offer behavior management strategies that emphasize best practices for supporting a safe school bus environment.
You don’t want to miss Robinson and other TSD presenters, who will provide the “meat and potatoes” to attendees’ most pressing challenges and issues.
