Chestnut Ridge Transportation Receives Good Samaritan Hospital Medal of Honor

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Chestnut Ridge Transportation, a member of the Trans Group family of bus operations, recently served as honoree at Good Samaritan Hospital’s 33rd Annual Spring Ball, receiving the Good Samaritan Hospital Medal of Honor. Fellow honoree Dr. Cary Hirsch received the Sister Joseph Rita Award for Medical Excellence. Thanks in part to the support of Chestnut Ridge Transportation, the event raised nearly $300,000 for the Rockland County-based healthcare provider.

“Giving back to the community is something we do with pleasure and with gratitude,” observed Chestnut Ridge Transportation President John Corr, Jr. “Good Samaritan Hospital is a pillar of health and well-being in Rockland County and it’s an honor to support such a tremendous community resource. I have always been extremely impressed with Good Samaritan Hospital and all the wonderful people I’ve met there. On behalf of everyone at Chestnut Ridge Transportation, we thank you for this recognition and look forward to future partnerships.”

In addition to Good Samaritan Hospital, Chestnut Ridge Transportation and its team members have supported various nonprofit organizations over the years, including the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Arc of Rockland, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. They also have been friends of Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, Rotary International, Home Aides of Rockland, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and local schools, libraries and various youth sports programs.

Located in Spring Valley, N.Y., Chestnut Ridge Transportation has provided all of the pre-school transportation for special needs children in Rockland County. It currently provides regular education and special needs transportation for the East Ramapo Central School District, Suffern Central School District and Pearl River School District.

The Trans Group, which operates 10 companies and more than 1,300 vehicles, employs over 2,000 people, and provides transportation to hundreds of thousands of passengers annually in lower New York State and Long Island. The company is actively involved in the school bus industry on the state and federal level. More information is available at www.thetransgroup.com
