Carrier School Bus Evaporators Recalled to Repair Loose Fuse Holders

Nesco Bus Maintenance says 231 units of Carrier EM-1 evaporators are being recalled to fix a fuse holder than may loosen.

The NHTSA recall campaign affects evaporator units installed as original equipment by Nesco in both school buses and transit buses. The fuse holder is located in the motor assembly. Nesco said that, over time, temperature and/or vibration may cause the holder to loosen. This can result in high resistance and arcing, which can lead to a fire.

Nesco said it is notifying owners on how to obtain a retrofit kit from Carrier along with repair instructions. Repairs will be made free of charge. The Nesco recall is cross-referenced with Carrier recall campaign 11E-003. Nesco said owners can contact Carrier directly at (800) 348-7449 to determine if their buses are affected.
