Companies Partner to Convert School Buses

Adomani, a provider of zero emissions vehicle solutions, announced an agreement with A-Z Bus Sales, a dealer-distributor serving California and Hawaii, to partner in the conversion and maintenance of hybrid and all-electric drive school bus fleets.

Adomani will supply A-Z Bus Sales with its patented drivetrain and the components needed for retrofitting school buses that can meet rigorous performance criteria, as well as state and local emissions targets.

“A-Z has the facilities, experience, manpower and industry connections to assemble, train, warranty and provide ongoing road service as we convert new and older polluting school buses to clean zero-emission electric school buses,” said Jim Reynolds, CEO of Adomani. “With their partnership and technical support, and our patented drivetrain design, knowledge of battery technology, mastery of battery management system and electric vehicle industry experience, we can quickly scale deployment of our systems to make a huge impact on California’s school bus market.”

“We’re impressed with the Adomani technology, management team and operations, and are looking forward to working with them to expand the broad range of services we presently offer our school fleet customers,” said John Landherr, president and CEO of A-Z Bus Sales. “A-Z Bus will utilize available capacity in our service centers to complement our product offerings and services in the zero-emissions space while addressing growing demand for cleaner vehicles.”

The companies said in a statement that through the partnership, they will be able to accelerate deployment of the hybrid and electric school bus fleets, as well as ensure their upkeep and warranty service, “thereby enhancing the health of children—including many in disadvantaged communities—and significantly reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).”
