IMMI to Hire More Employees to Fulfill Seat Belt Demand in School Buses

SafeGuard seating products manufacturer IMMI plans to hire more than 100 people to support the increasing demand of lap and shoulder belts on school buses.

The additional employees will work out of IMMI’s Westfield, Ind., corporate headquarters, according to a recent company announcement. IMMI is seeking engineers, office support staff and production employees. It also seeks college students or others interested in 50 temporary summer positions. IMMI manufactures the SafeGuard line for school buses. It includes the FlexSeat, which can be used unbelted or lap- and shoulder-belted for one, two or three students.

Be it a state mandate or a school district policy, more districts nationwide are looking at equipping their school buses with lap and should belts. In many cases, part of a school district’s decision to use seat belts is because of concern by parents.

“As research shows, more than 80 percent of parents want their children in lap and shoulder belts on buses,” said Larry Gray, CEO of IMMI. “As the leading innovator in this industry, IMMI is growing to keep up with the demand.”
