Thomas Built Buses Appoints New Vice President of Operations

Thomas Built Buses has appointed Chris Russell new vice president of operations, a position that oversees more than 1,500 workers employed at a number of production facilities.

The announcement comes after the former vice president, Caley Edgerly was promoted president and CEO of the North Carolina-based company.

Thomas Built Buses recruited Russell as the new vice president of operations for his years of manufacturing expertise. Russell was part of Detroit Diesel since 2006, serving a number of roles, including manufacturing engineering manager, internal logistics manager and engine assembly and test manager. His most recent position was  order center and production planning manager.

“Chris brings with him years of valuable experience,” said Edgerly. “We have every confidence that Chris is the right person for the job.”

Russell takes over administrative duties of two bus body plants, a chassis plant and a component fabrication plant, along with other related logistic operations.

“These are exciting times in the school bus industry, and I am excited to be part of the team here at Thomas Built,” said Russell.
