Thomas Built Buses Expands Production, Adds Jobs

Thomas Built Buses announced yesterday an investment of $11.8 million to increase capacity and add up to 236 jobs in their High Point, North Carolina plant.

According to the company, the growth comes due to increased demand for the Saf-T-Liner C2 model. It is expected that production will grow by upwards of 25 percent with the investment.

Part of the invested amount came to Thomas in the form of support from local entities. The company received over $66,000 in economic incentives from Randolph County and the City of Archdale, as well as $300,000 from Guilford County and the City of High Point.

“Since 1916 High Point has been home to Thomas Built Buses, and we are thrilled to contribute to the local economic expansion,” said Kelley Platt, company president and CEO. “This new wave of investment will allow us to hire up to 236 individuals in varying disciplines as well as invest in our production infrastructures to better streamline our production process.”
