Bus Driver Earns State Honor

The Kansas Department of Education named Eduardo Escobedo, a Dodge City Schools bus driver, top transit class school bus driver at the annual School Bus Rodeo Safety Competition, according to the Dodge City Daily Globe.

Escobedo began competing in 2005 and won the state title in 2013. He also placed second in the the 2016 Northwest/Southwest District Safety Competition in April at the Dodge City Transportation Office.

“We are very proud of Eduardo dedicating his heart and soul into school bus driving,” said Diana Loera, Dodge City Schools transportation supervisor. “He has competed year after year in the Safety Competition and has proven his great driving skills.”

The qualifying competition, which took place in early June, included a written test and a behind-the-wheel driving skills test.

Escobedo serves in the school district as a driver trainer, mechanic and driver. He has driven a bus since 2004.
