New Mexico Bus Driver Charged With 4 Cold Case Rapes

An Albuquerque Public Schools bus driver was arrested after he was allegedly linked to four cold case rapes that occurred over 30 years ago, reported Koat Action News.

The Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office said special agents arrested 61-year-old Ralph Antony Martinez after forensic genetic genealogy investigation connected him to multiple incidents in Albuquerque.

According to the news report, the District of Attorney’s office stated investigators collected DNA from the school bus that Martinez drove. Agents confirmed the DNA matched evidence collected from sexual assaults that happened in 1988 and 1991.

Officials added that the first incident happened in October 1988, the second and third in August 1991 DNA also linked Martinez to a 4th sexual assault, but the victim is no longer alive.

The article does not specify whether Martinez had any inappropriate contact with students he transported. The investigation is ongoing.
