2 Supervisors Latest in Receiving NAPT Special Needs Transportation Endorsement

Uldis Vilcins, a supervisor of transportation at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in Norristown, Pa., and Sandy Rowe, an area safety and compliance supervisor at Student Transportation of America in Goffstown, N.H., both completed the NAPT Special Needs Transportation (SNT) Training Program.

Vilcins and Rowe are the 27th and 28th individuals to achieve this recognition, respectively.

The NAPT Special Needs Transportation Training Program provides numerous means for transportation personnel serving students with disabilities to access educational opportunities at both local and national conferences and to gain national recognition for their efforts.

Core curriculum consists of six special needs courses in a variety of different settings, including a school bus roadeo and a trade show of school transportation products and services. The core curriculum is supplemented by two courses of elective instruction from the NAPT Professional Development Series (PDS) Program. The syllabus for the core curriculum was specifically designed to increase an individual’s specific knowledge about transporting students with disabilities.
