2015: A Year in Review

The end of the year is often met with introspection on the past 12 months in an effort to determine how to approach the coming year. As 2015 becomes 2016, School Transportation News would like to reflect on the stories that received the highest viewership. The trends that appealed most to readers in 2015 centered on technology, bus accidents and fatalities, as more than half of the top 10 stories STN published in the last year focused on these topics in different ways. Update: Owner of Hoglund Bus Dies in Car Crash

(March 3, 2015)

Holly Hoglund Klein, the president and owner of Hoglund Bus Company, died in a seven-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 94 and a mile outside of Hasty, Minnesota. She was 44.

Legislature Group Recaps School Bus Stop Arm Video Laws

The National Conference on State Legislatures released a brief statement that recaps numerous state laws authorizing the use of video cameras on school buses.

N.D. School Bus-Train Collision Kills Driver, Student

A sad day for Larimore Public Schools #44 in the northeast part of North Dakota after a school bus driver and a high school student were killed, and 12 other students were injured, when a freight train collided with their school bus.

Authorities in Tennessee reported that text messaging was the cause of a school bus crash that killed two students and teacher’s aide from Knox County Schools.
