The safety solutions provider’s upgraded A.R.M.O.R.-StopArm camera now has the ability to capture up to four lanes of motorists who fail to stop when a school bus is stopped to drop off or pick up student passengers at bus stops.
Company officials said the new A.R.M.O.R.-StopArm’s multiple cameras with different focal length lenses deliver precise quality video of violator license plates. The cameras can record the front and back license plates of a violating vehicle from any of four lanes, as well as from both directions in those four lanes (As seen in photo above). An automatic download feature identifies violations for processing and makes available for viewing from a web browser.
The A.R.M.O.R.-StopArm can also be configured to generate reports to meet local law enforcement ordinances.
The new product announcement comes during a time when camera enforcement programs in different states go into high gear. Many programs have been implemented recently, coincidentally around the time the 2013 NASDPTS Stop-Arm Violation Survey was released. According to NASDPTS’ 2013 Stop-Arm Violation Survey, stop-arm violation counts have been consistent throughout the past three years. This year, more than 108,000 school bus drivers from 29 states reported that 85,279 vehicles passed their buses illegally in a single day.
