Want to see just how far school buses have come over the past 125 years?
A special thanks to Connie at “Forgotten Old Photos,” a blog site dedicated to publishing old photos that “have been forgotten and left behind,” for granting us permission to re-post a photo that could date back as far to the late 1880s.
This week, Connie posted a photo from the “Antique Shop in Dorset,” which could possibly be a reference to Dorset, England. But more likely, the photo originated from Dorset, Vt., perhaps even Dorset, N.H., or East Dorset, N.Y. Then again, it could be from Dorset, Ohio.
Actually, the antique shop is located in Dorset, Minn., according to Connie. But is that where this photo was taken?
While the photo is hard to read, the words “Consolidated School District No. 42” and “Route 2” are visible on the side of the horse-drawn hack, which was first produced by Wayne Works of Richmond, Ind., in 1886.
