Speaker Spotlight: Pete Meslin

The director of transportation at Newport-Mesa Unified School District in Southern California won’t disappoint at this year’s TSD Conference. He is among our most popular speakers, year after year, because of the innovative and challenging ideas he brings to his sessions.

Next month, Pete will present “Bus in the Classroom” on Sunday, March 13, in which he will chronicle a highly successful program recently implemented at his school district that uses school bus drivers to teach school bus-related safety skills to student with special needs.

Then, on Monday, March 14, Meslin will present “When FAPE Isn’t Free”. He will provide several creative options to help transporters legally reduce costs without, as he puts it, “searching for the end of every rainbow.”

On Tuesday, March 15, Meslin will have two workshops. The first, “LRE: Service vs. Independence,” will consist of a lively debate delving deeper into these apparent conflicts on the road to student independence. His second workshop, “On the Front Lines: Striving for IDEAL in IDEA & Head Start Services”, will expose some of the more common errors as well as some of the hidden “gotchas” of complying with IDEA.

You don’t want to miss Meslin and other TSD presenters, who will provide the “meat and potatoes” to attendees’ most pressing challenges and issues. The 2016 full conference agenda can now be viewed on the conference website. So get your approval and register today at the standard registration rate. Online registration ends on March 1, but on-site registration is available.

We’ll see you in Louisville!
