Bendix On-Line Brake School Continues Growth, Surpasses Milestone

ELYRIA, Ohio — As the Bendix On-Line Brake School nears completion of its second year, the online technical training site continues to expand its offerings to a growing number of participants. Since March 2013, when Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC. established brake-school.com, the training portal has delivered more than 750,000 courses to registered users. Total registration has reached more than 25,000 users from more than a dozen countries, officials said. The site is frequently updated, with nearly 20 additional courses developed and added to the curriculum in the past 12 months alone.

“We now offer more than 50 courses through the Bendix On-Line Brake School, all available 24/7/365 through free registration,” said Barbara Gould, Bendix director of corporate communications. “And we have a full menu of new courses scheduled for development and release throughout 2015, including videos from our popular Bendix Tech Talk Series at the Mid-America Trucking Show. The level of interest we’re seeing from drivers, technicians, distributors, fleets, and owner-operators reinforces the value and importance of providing easily accessible, in-depth technical training across the industry. Nearly every day we hear from individuals who have completed one or more courses at brake-school.com providing positive feedback and requests to keep the content coming.”

Bendix, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of leading-edge active safety and braking system technologies for commercial vehicles, also develops customized training through its On-Line Brake School, offering specialized programs for companies and organizations like UPS and HDA Truck Pride.

Bendix has been a trailblazer in industry training programs and technical education for more than 50 years. Its in-person Bendix Brake Training School is one of the industry’s longest-running training programs. In total, more than 250,000 people have successfully completed Bendix’s in-person and computer-driven training, logging over 350,000 student training hours during the past 10 years alone.

In addition to Bendix’s comprehensive and interactive Air Brake Training course, the brake-school.com curriculum covers a range of product topics, such as:

  • Bendix ADB22X air disc brakes
  • Air disc brake maintenance and inspection
  • Reduced Stopping Distance (RSD) drum brakes
  • Air dryers and oil-coalescing cartridge technology
  • Compressors
  • Foundation drum brakes
  • SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) by Bendix CVS
  • Valves
  • Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program full-stability system
  • Bendix Wingman Advanced – A Collision Mitigation Technology
  • Electronic safety system diagnostics
  • AutoVue Lane Departure Warning System from Bendix CVS
  • Automatic slack adjusters
  • Bendix Trailer Information Module

Additional Bendix On-Line Brake School content addresses highway safety, emissions regulations, and the federal Reduced Stopping Distance mandate.

Brake-school.com training tools include a dynamic menu of video segments and interactive presentation modules, all designed to allow students to review the information at their own pace and on their own schedule. Knowledge checks at the end of each course measure participants’ learning. The password-protected site offers a variety of access levels, most of which enable companies to track their registered technicians’ and employees’ participation and progress.

At the heart of Bendix’s training and education programs are field-tested sales and service professionals; an ASE-certified field technical support team; and the Bendix Tech Team (800-AIR-BRAKE), an expert technical support group providing service advice, brake system troubleshooting, and product training.

By delivering on post-sales support and other areas critical to fleets’ success—including safety, value, and product performance—Bendix helps fleets and drivers the lower total cost of vehicle ownership and strengthen return on investment in equipment and technology, increasing safety for everyone on the road.
