BusRadio Challenges Kids to Get Creative

BOSTON – A company that gives school bus riders tunes on the bus is giving them an opportunity to display their creativity for a chance to win scholarships, art supplies and cash for their schools.

Through the Bus Radio Web site, the Boston-based network that streams radio programming and public service announcements to approximately 10,000 school buses, young artists can vie for a grand prize of $2,600 in Blick brand art supplies for their school and $300 worth of art materials for themselves, the company announced last week.

For a chance to win, K-12 students must submit photos of their art by April 17. A panel of judges will select semi-finalists from each of three categories — kindergarten through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through 12th grade — to be displayed on the BusRadio Web site for a public vote. Grand prize, first prize and second prize winners in each category will be announced at the end of May.

A second contest challenges students to make prom-wear from duct tape for a chance to win $3,000 in scholarships and $3,000 for their school. Since 2001, students have submitted photos to a panel of judges in the Duck Tape brand duct tape “Stuck at Prom” contest.
