Forest River Bus and InterMotive Begin Exclusive Electrical System Partnership

ELKHART, Ind. — Forest River Bus, America’s largest shuttle bus manufacturer, has formed a strategic partnership with InterMotive Vehicle Controls to begin installing in the coming months, the FlexTech Programmable Electrical System as standard equipment on all of its new buses.

Forest River will have more flexibility to meet transit customers’ demands for “made to order” options, by integrating the technology of InterMotive’s innovative FlexTech Programmable Electrical System. A modern, eye-catching control panel interface and onboard diagnostics are enhanced by the option for field programmable updates to desired operations—without changing the wiring.

“We are very excited about this partnership, and what it means to our dealers and customers,” said David Wright, Forest River Bus Division president. “Incorporating FlexTech into our buses allows Forest River to utilize the latest technology in automotive electronics that will improve the reliability and safety features our customers desire.”

The FlexTech system reduces electrical issues by eliminating splicing into OEM chassis wiring, while decreasing overall wiring volume and weight. In addition, InterMotive’s Intelligent Lift Interlock and Fast Idle functions will come as standard equipment features on all lift-equipped buses, thereby improving both performance and safety.

“This exclusive collaboration enables Forest River to better respond to increasingly unique customer requirements,” said InterMotive President Greg Shafer. “Adding FlexTech to their buses creates customizable options, without the hassle and cost of added electrical components and wiring. The confidence that Forest River has in our product motivated them to offer a 5-year/100,000 warranty, which is unprecedented in the bus industry.”
