PACCAR Parts Celebrates Grand Opening of Renton Distribution Center

RENTON, Wash. — PACCAR Parts recently celebrated the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art distribution center in Renton, Washington.

The grand opening celebration brought together over 500 people including PACCAR dealers and customers, parts suppliers and transit carriers, project vendors, city of Renton officials, representatives of Washington state officials, and PACCAR employees. Guests were provided guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility, and interactive displays on key products and services following the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony included Renton City Mayor Denis Law, PACCAR Chief Executive Officer Ron Armstrong, PACCAR Vice President and PACCAR Parts General Manager David Danforth and PACCAR Parts General Operations Manager Tom Floyd.

“The historic event was a success and would not have been possible without the hard work and passion of those involved with the planning and execution,” said David Danforth, PACCAR vice president and PACCAR Parts general manager. “Being able to share such a monumental achievement as a division is what made the occasion so special.”

The 160,000 square-foot parts distribution center (PDC) became operational in April of 2016. It serves 91 prime dealerships throughout the Northwestern United States and Western Canada, and is one of 17 PDCs worldwide with capacity to store 38,000 different aftermarket parts for all makes of trucks, trailers and buses.

The Renton PDC incorporates productivity-inspired design; distribution technology such as hydraulic lift tables, custom parcel conveyor and spiral conveyance; and environmental sustainability with LED lighting and an advanced energy-management system.

“Looking forward, the $32 million operations investment in the new Renton facility will continue to positively impact our dealers and customers,” said Laura Bloch, PACCAR Parts assistant general manager-operations. “With a shipping accuracy of 99.98 percent and a regional order fulfillment rate for stocking items of 96 percent the Renton PDC will continue to provide quality parts and service that is unmatched in the industry.”

Key partners involved in the construction of the facility included general contractor Howard S. Wright, Freiheit & Ho Architects, and Engineered Products for their contribution to the facility’s structural racking.

“Our partners were key to the facility’s success,” said Tom Floyd PACCAR Parts general operations manager. “The grand opening is not just about the PDC itself, but the people behind it. The expertise and professionalism each partner brought to the team contributed greatly to a new standard for PACCAR Parts distribution centers, ultimately enhancing our global supply chain for our dealers and customers.”
