Allison Transmission Releases New Product for Pupil Transport/Shuttle Series

INDIANAPOLIS — Allison Transmission, Inc., the leading transmission supplier for the large school bus market, has introduced the new 1350 model from the company’s Pupil Transportation/Shuttle Series.

The 1350 provides an option for a towing capacity of up to 30,000 pounds within 1000 Series models. The previous maximum gross combination weight approved in the Allison 1000 Series was 26,000 pounds. The new 1350 model provides increases towing capability to 30,000 pounds and comes equipped with a park pawl. Since no air brake is required, Allison said drivers can experience ease of use comparable to an automotive pick-up truck.

The 1350 was released with the Allison optimized package, which helps to conserve fuel, provide better acceleration and carry a load more efficiently. The package includes shift energy management, low range torque protection, load based shift scheduling and prognostics.

In addition to the Pupil Transport/Shuttle Series, the 1350 is also offered in the Highway Series, Rugged Duty Series, Emergency Vehicle Series, Motorhome Series and the Specialty Series.
