Braun Recalling Wheelchair Lifts to Fix Override of Latched Roll Stop

Braun issued a NHTSA recall of its Century-2 and Vista-2 wheelchair lifts installed ad aftermarket equipment on various vans and transit buses because wheelchair occupants may be able to ride over the insufficiently latched roll stop.

The company said the roll stop latches on the outer barrier may become bent or misaligned. As a result, the wheelchair occupant could fall off the lift if the ride over or “defeat” of the latched roll stop occurs while the lift is elevated.

Braun added that is notifying owners of the repair, which will be made free of charge.
