Delco Remy Awards $5K in Scholarships to Attend ‘America’s Best’ School Bus Competition

Four individuals split $5,000 in scholarships from Delco Remy, a manufacturer of vehicle starters and alternators, to attend America’s Best School Bus Technician and School Bus Inspector Training and Skills Competition later this month in San Antonio, Texas.

The winners of the Delco Remy scholarship are Jack Defibaugh of Lewisburg, W.Va.; Jason Sharpe of Glen Allen, Va.; Dean Councilor of Traverse City, Mich.; and Joe Gushlaw of Adams, N.Y. Candidates submitted statements of one page or less describing what they hoped to achieve by attending the event and how they felt it would enhance their effectiveness

NAPT presents America’s Best skills and training competition, now in its eighth year. The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, Bus Parts Warehouse, Hydrotex and Zonar Systems all sponsor the four-day event, which is scheduled this year for Sept. 27 through 30. This year’s host is the Texas Association of School Bus Technicians.

NAPT added in a statement that America’s Best is North America’s only annual premier skills competition exclusively for the professional school bus technician and inspector. Contestants come from all segments of the school bus maintenance industry and from many states and provinces.
