First Student Supports Flint Community During Water Crisis

Employees of First Student locations in Michigan have been working to collect, deliver and distribute water bottles to residents of the city of Flint. The city’s water supply is contaminated with lead, rendering it unsafe for consumption.

flintSeventeen locations throughout the state, including those in Adrian, Benton Harbor, Berrien Springs, Carleton and Flint, have come together to support the Flint community by partnering with local schools, businesses and first responders to collect bottled water and monetary donations. First Student said its buses have been used to deliver more than 10,000 bottles of water to local residents.

First Student serves an estimated 3,000 students in Flint each day.

“We are proud to be able to use our resources to assist such an important cause,” said First Student Area General Manager Doug Meek. “At First Student, we recognize the opportunity we have to make a difference in the lives of students extends beyond the school day. Our employees embrace the chance to give back to the communities where they live and work.”
