David Farrar was recently been appointed director of real estate for FirstGroup America, which operates First Student. He will handle routine property management responsibilities, such as sales and acquisitions of real estate within the First Student and First Transit divisions.
Farrar comes to FGA with more than 25 years of real estate and leadership experience. In 2006, he was vice president of facilities and construction for Learning Care Group, the world’s largest pre-school company. In his previous position, Farrar was the director of real estate for the west region of McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.
“I am pleased to join the company and look forward to the new and promising challenges ahead,” Farrar said. “I plan to utilize my knowledge and experience in the real estate department to effectively position the company and its First Student and First Transit divisions throughout the many markets within North America.”
Farrar is also an active member of the Professional Retail Store Management Association (PRSM) and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). He has written for the IFMA’s Facility Management Journal, as well as published a white paper entitled, Mitigating Risk in Critical Environments.
