It’s been 31 years since San Antonio residents have seen their driveways blanketed in snow that has reached a record high of 13.5 inches.
Reports surfaced Friday morning that snow had dusted the southern part of Texas the previous night. Nathan Graf, San Antonio Independent School District senior executive director of transportation and vehicle maintenance, describes his team’s surprise. Graf indicated that the snow did not negatively affect morning routes, and instead his team and others embraced the seasonal gift.
“Our absences were very low today and we had no accidents on the roads,” he added. “The team did an awesome job, considering that the white stuff doesn’t come that often.”
CNN forecasted that snow activity will continue to other parts farther south like Corpus Christi and Brownsville with an expectation of 2-3 inches.
Houston was also invited to the snow party, which has compelled J.J. Watt of the NFL’s Houston Texans to join in on the excitement.
