Legal Routes Lowers Subscription Fee, Offers Free Issue of ‘Things We Know’

Legal Routes announced it is rolling back subscription fees and is offering a free, eight-page premium edition in celebration of its upcoming 10th anniversary.

Legal Routes is a monthly newsletter first published in 003 that focuses on legal issues and current events affecting student transporters and educators nationwide. It is compiled by Editor Peggy A. Burns, Esq., owner of Education Compliance Group and former in-house counsel for Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Thornton, Colo. Burns also produces “Things We Know,” a resource for Legal Routes subscribers that includes 26 topic areas ranging from length of ride to duty of care to sexual harassment on the school bus.

“It’s a quick and ready reminder you can turn to when questions or challenges come your way on key points of law, compliance, and best practices in pupil transportation,” Burns said.

New subscriptions or renewals submitted by Dec. 1 receive a rate of $115 for one year, and six copies additional copies can be mailed to the same address for $15 each. Active subscribers also receive a personal access key for the Legal Routes website, where users can read archived articles from all previous issues. Subscribers can also e-mail Burns at myroadmap@legalroutes.com with specific legal questions.

“In any economy, that’s a real deal. But right now – when so many in pupil transportation are new to the job, and others are stretched to the max from cuts in staff – it’s smart money that relies on the best information on law and compliance, training practices, and HR issues,” added Legal Routes Publisher Roseann Schwaderer.
