Memorial Day Survey Seeks Information on Military History of Student Transportation Professionals

Heading into the Memorial Day weekend, nearly 60 percent of School Transportation News subscribers responding to a new survey indicate they are former members of the U.S. military.

More than 240 student transportation professionals had responded at this writing. STN delivered the survey in time for the Memorial Day weekend. More than 57 percent said they were a former service man or woman while nearly 43 percent said they had never served. Of those who had served, nearly 45 percent were in the Army, 21 percent were in Air Force and almost 15 percent served in the Navy.

Nearly two-thirds of readers who said they are ex-military also fought in a war or foreign conflict, as far back as the Korean War to as recent as Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Military ranks ranged from private to sergeant major, captain to colonel, depending on the branch.

The online survey remains open through next week.
