NASDPTS Releases Preliminary Information on Its Fall Conference

The National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services announced its Annual Conference scheduled for Oct. 18-21 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The NASDPTS conference, which will be held at the Grand Rapids Amway Grand Plaza, will inform attendees on new federal regulations, industry trends and best practices from across the country. Some topics for consideration for the conference include new guidelines for DOT physical examiners, new obstructive sleep apnea (OBS) testing and the new national drug and alcohol database system.

“I’ve always come home from past conferences with the kind of information that I could share with my local directors to keep them on the cutting edge and ahead of the curve on coming changes,” said Leon Langley, Maryland State Department of Education pupil transportation director and NASDPTS president-elect.

Langley will succeed Max Christensen, the state director of student transportation at the Iowa Department of Education, as president of NASDPTS. Christensen’s term ends October 2014.

Presently NASDPTS is accepting Request for Proposals for topics to be presented at the conference. Supplier Council members interested in presenting must also complete the same RFP. State directors or SNAC members whose local directors have best practices that have proven successful and would be interested in presenting at the conference should email Langley or call him at (410) 371-7034 by Friday, July 12.
