Lion Bus tapped industry veteran Gary Plumton as the new vice president of U.S. sales for the Quebec-based manufacturer. The move signals the resumption of a long professional relationship between Plumton and Lion Bus co-founder Camile Chartrand.
The two worked together for decades at Type A manufacturer Corbeil Bus until Collins Industries acquired select assets of the brand in 2007 and moved manufacturing from Quebec to Hutchinson, Kansas. At the time, Chartrand was Corbeil’s president and CEO and Plumton was VP of sales.
Chartrand is now chief operating officer of Lion Bus. In Plumton’s new role, Lion Bus said he will be responsible for “all aspects” of marketing and sales for bus models in the U.S. He has more than 30 years of school bus industry experience.
Lion Bus added that he remains based out of Carmel, Indiana. For the past five years, Plumton was director of sales for IMMI brand SafeGuard in nearby Westfield, Indiana.
