GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Starting in January, student transportation managers will be able to see for themselves exactly what school bus drivers are seeing while behind the wheel with live, secure streaming video from Seon, the company announced.
The technology works from any Seon camera installed in the bus that is connected to a Seon DVR and the new “Smart-Reach” cellular router, which means monthly data charges apply. Vehicle and ridership tracking data can also be transmitted live back to the transportation department and is viewable by any computer connected to the Internet or mobile device via Seon’s vMax Mobile app for iPhones and iPads.
The live streaming video integrates with the vMax Compass school bus routing software and vMax Live Plus vehicle tracking user interface. Seon added in a statement that no other provider on the market is currently delivering one solution for integrated video, fleet tracking, and student ridership in real-time.
“Every second counts when it comes to passenger safety. In an emergency situation, live streaming lets you see exactly what’s happening on the bus in real-time and take action immediately – no matter where you might be,” said Peter Simmons, director of marketing.
Seon is providing live streaming demonstrations during the NAPT Summit Trade Show, which begins Tuesday at 1 p.m. and concludes at noon on Wednesday.
