Customers of ACC Climate Control will soon not only be able to specify air-conditioning systems for school buses but also heaters and roof hatches. That is one of the developments resulting from Spheros Group completing its acquisition of the company at the end of January.
Spheros added that the combined capabilities of the two companes “ideally complement each other,” as the deal offers potential growth and synergies.
“In ACC Climate Control, we have found a partner that is a perfect match as far as our core bus business, philosophy and customer orientation are concerned,” said Heiko Baufeld, CEO of Spheros North America. “As market leader, Spheros-ACC will be the ideal partner for customers of HVAC systems in buses and special-purpose vehicles in North America.”
Casey Cummings, CEO of ACC Climate Control, added that the acquisition will enhance the experiences of customers and suppliers alike through technological leadership in product engineering, best-in-class production hubs and comprehensive sales and service of HVAC products, particularly in the field of electric drives.
“As part of an international group, ACC will not only profit in the future from the processes of an established OEM partner, global engineering and international buying. It will also be able to offer its customers heaters and roof hatches for their buses,” he added.
The acquisition also means “significant investments” this year in ACC’s production plant in Elkhart, Indiana.
“We benefit here, on the one hand, from an enormous pool of product and market experience, and on the other hand, from a fully developed manufacturing hub, a full range of testing equipment in the market and a proven service network,” said Helmut Zanker, CEO of the Spheros Group. “The Elkhart plant is a perfect backbone for our North American operations.”
