Webinar to Tell ‘The Truth About Child Restraint Standards,’ Revised FMVSS 213

A child passenger safety training expert will provide insights into the revised FMVSS 213 that applies to seats for children weighing up to 80 pounds during a free webinar on April 19 sponsored by child safety restraint manufacturer Dorel Juvenile Group and Safe Ride News.

Titled “The Truth About Child Restraints,” the webinar is presented by Joseph Colella, a child passenger safety instructor and owner of Traffic Safety Products. Participants who complete the webinar receive one CEU credit toward the Child Passenger Safety Technician or Instructor certification.

The webinar, which begins at 4 p.m. Eastern, will discuss the updated federal requirements to expand and enhance the minimum protection provided by child restraint systems. The revised FMVSS213 will incorporate a new test dummy, new labels and more, which can be commonly misunderstood or misrepresented. The presentation aims to give attendees a better understanding of the new regulations’ design and performance requirements, what is required and what is not and how the requirements translate to real-world applications.

Organizers said the webinar and its content will only be presented live at the scheduled time and will not be recorded or otherwise available for future viewing or use.
