School Bus Rescue: The 2011 Joplin Tornado Remembered

Watch a video that describes the devastation of an EF5 tornado that decimated Joplin, Missouri in May 2011 and that chronices the relief efforts. The school district’s school bus drivers played a vital role in providing emergency evacuation transportation.

Staff worked around the clock providing shuttle service to local residents as well as emergency responders, despite many not knowing well-being of their own family and friends.

The district’s transportation department was honored for its work in April 2014.
