Man Charged with Felony for Shooting at School Bus

A 22-year-old man was charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon after an investigation into the March 16 incident that involved a Harpursville, New Yor school bus, the Press & Sun-Bulletin reported.

State police said Lucas Alapeck accidentally shot the bus that was carrying students home from school. The police called the bullet that struck the exterior of the bus an “errant round” from a rifle that was fired by one of two people who were lawfully targeting shooting on private property. The investigation tracked the trail of the bullet back a third of a mile to Alapeck’s house, where officers discovered and seized a large-capacity ammunition feeding device that can hold 30 rounds of .223-caliber ammunition,

No students were injured in the incident.
