One-of-a-Kind Training Sessions Announced for STN EXPO Indy

Attendees of the inaugural STN EXPO Indianapolis in June 2019 will be able to register for several unique learning and networking events.

Cummins Engine is providing attendees with the opportunity to register for the Cummins Service Training School, which consists of two separate four-hour, hands-on training sessions that are on June 9 and 10. The event is one-of-a-kind for the school bus industry.

Company trainers will cover basic electronic theory and troubleshooting, cooled EGR and air handling familiarization, an overview of exhaust after-treatment, and additional product information. Class sizes are limited to 50 participants, and those who complete the course will receive certification from Cummins.

Allison Transmission is offering up to 150 STN EXPO attendees the opportunity to tour the company’s plant at its global headquarters, and to participate in a ride and drive. The “Allision Transmission Experience” is scheduled for June 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Additionally, STN is launching the all-new National School Bus Inspection Training Program, to provide 50 registered attendees with valuable information on reducing vehicle breakdowns on the road. The training is provided by Marshall Casey, the retired director of fleet maintenance for the South Carolina Department of Education. He is joined by instructors Mike Bullman, the current South Carolina fleet director; Joe Scesny, the retired school bus inspection supervisor for the New York State Department of Transportation; and Bobby Williams, a fleet consultant from Texas.

Details are coming soon on a live school bus crash test at IMMI’s Center for Advanced Product Evaluation on June 7 and wheelchair securement training provided by Q’Straint/Sure-Lok on June 8. The NHTSA Child Passenger Safety Restraint Training eight-hour seminar is also scheduled for June 8.
