The first day of the 26th annual STN EXPO in Reno brought laughs, networking, group discussions and training sessions.

Four breakout sessions were held on Saturday that gave attendees the choice of what classes to attend. An eight-hour training seminar approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration taught the proper securement of pre-school aged children in child safety restraint systems on school bus seats.

An eight-hour national school bus inspection training program was also presented by maintenance and inspection experts Marshall Casey, Joe Scesny and Bobby Williams.

Two additional workshops were held in the afternoon. One focused on best practices for being a transportation director, while the other was led by behavior expert Patrick Mulick and covered student behavior on the school bus.
