TSD Conference Speaker Spotlight: Cheryl Wolf

Cheryl Wolf, one of TSD Conference’s Tenured Faculty members, may be soft-spoken, but has a passion for special needs transportation like no other. Which is why she is returning to the TSD Conference to lend her expertise from her years at the Lafayette School Corporation in Indiana.

Wolf is, once again, serving as co-chair of the 19th Annual Team Special Needs Roadeo on March 11 and 12 (to participate or volunteer in the Roadeo, register at the Roadeo page of the website), and will present a number of breakout sessions throughout the six-day conference.

On Saturday, March 12, Wolf will be teaching the Special Needs Student Transportation Orientation (PDS 801), aka the Basics of Special Needs Transportation, that will explore the legal basis for special needs transportation and will delve into the differences between laws and policies as they affect special needs transportation operations. Then, on Sunday, March 13, she will co-present the general session titled Rescue Medications on the School Bus. Attendees will learn about a new policy directive recently published on rescue medications, including Diastat and Epinephrine, by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Also on Sunday, Wolf will co-present the NHTSA Child Passenger Safety Restraint Systems on School Buses seminar (PDS 802), which will take place at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

Lastly, on Tuesday, March 15, Wolf will present What Should a Special Needs Training Program for Head Start Look Like? With the Head Start rule requiring that at least 10 percent of Head Start enrollment have disabilities, she will discuss what transporters are to do if they have no experience with special needs students but now find themselves providing them service.
