Cummins Filtration Introduces NAP-Free OAT Coolant

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Cummins Filtration (NYSE:CMI) announced the release of its environmentally-friendly Fleetguard ES Compleat OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant in a nitrite, amine and phosphate free (NAP-free) formulation. ES Compleat OAT does not contain borate or silicate, which makes it acceptable to most OEM’s around the world. The NAP-free formula offers solid liner pitting protection and better aluminum protection than conventional OAT coolants containing nitrite.

“We take environmental responsibility very seriously at Cummins Filtration. Being able to support sustainability with an OAT coolant that also offers excellent protection is very important to our mission,” said Doug Hudgens, senior technical advisor for Cummins Filtration. “We have long supported the importance of greener solutions through all our product development, and we are very pleased to introduce our new environmentally friendly NAP-free OAT Coolant to the marketplace.”

Cummins Filtration conducted extensive testing before the new formulation was approved for the market, Hudgens said. All tests confirmed that the NAP-free ES Compleat OAT coolant provides the anti-freeze, anti-boil, heat transfer and corrosion protection required of today’s fully formulated, heavy duty antifreeze/coolant. The new formulation meets ASTM and the performance specifications of most major OEMs including those for Cummins (CES 14603), Detroit Diesel, MAN, Volvo, MACK, and Navistar.

With extended service intervals of 300,000 miles (500,000 km or 6,000 hrs), ES Compleat OAT offers freeze protection to -34 F degrees and provides ultimate liner pitting, corrosion, aluminum and solder protection for longer system life. The coolant is compatible with gaskets, elastomers and other non-metallics in the engine and is suitable for all diesel, gasoline and natural gas engines.

Fleetguard ES Compleat OAT coolant extends service intervals, reduces maintenance time and ensures the ultimate protection for equipment and the environment. ES Compleat OAT is available in both concentrated and premixed formulations.

The premixed OAT formula eliminates the need for mixing concentrated product with water, ensuring the cleanest solution enters the cooling system and reduces costly maintenance time. With specially designed Fleetguard coolant test strips and refractometers, field testing is quick and easy, keeping engines running better with fewer trips to the service bay.
