The California Air Resources Board is presenting a free webinar on May 9 for student transportation managers and others who are subject to the school bus provisions of Truck and Bus Regulation.
A CARB statement said the webinar, scheduled for 9 to 10 a.m. Pacific, is designed to help school bus owners/operators, brokers, maintenance personnel and fleet manager sunderstand the requirements and technologies for complying with California’s diesel vehicle regulations. The training reviews the requirements for school buses under this regulation, provides basic information about diesel particulate filters and includes a review of the Fleet Rule for Public Agencies and Utilities that applies to other diesel vehicles in fleets.
The webinar will also discuss the consequences of non-compliance, assistance in meeting deadlines and will provide the opportunity to ask questions of experts and technical staff questions regarding the regulation requirements.
The compliance date for 66 percent of diesel-fueled school buses over 14,000 pounds GVWR to have diesel particulate filters in place was Jan. 1 of this year. CARB said 100 percent of the fleet is required to be in compliance by Jan. 1, 2014. CARB added that its enforcement team is taking action now, such as through the webinar, to ensure compliance.
